Explore the types of drugs young people take, patterns of use, effects on health and wellbeing and how to support and refer users to appropriate services with a nationally acclaimed trainer. Increase your skills, knowledge and confidence on the particular risks of alcohol and drug use, including prescription and over the counter medication. KIP Education look beyond the immediate behaviours and understand the reasons why young people take use drugs, and use this understanding to inform the development of effective education, services and support. This course is aimed at all practitioners working with children, young people and families and it will be particularly valuable for those working with drug users. The course covers different types of drugs, from illegal drugs, alcohol, tabacco, legal highs, steroids, volatile substances and over-the-counter and prescription medicines. We explore attitudes towards drugs, drug use and drug users, including challenging misconceptions about their peers, stereotypes, and exploring media and social influences.
