For Professionals Supporting Young People

This one day course is for professionals working in a range of youth and community settings.

This course provides specialised knowledge for professionals working with young people , focusing on the management of self-harm & suicide-related behaviours.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Professionals working predominantly with children, young people and their families, parents or carers, and those involved in intervention and reviewing the safeguarding needs for a child or young people, where there are safeguarding concerns, and or potential risks.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the training, participants will: 

  • Theories around youth mental health, targetting self-harm and suicidal behaviour in young people

  • Strategies and techniques to recognise young people at risk of self-harm or suicide

  • Prevention, intervention and safety strategies for deliberate self-harm and suicide-related behaviours

  • Designing and evaluating care- plans for young people at risk of deliberate self-harm or suicidal behaviour

  • Resources and effective sign posting for young people
