Essential CPD Training for Professionals Working with Young People
From asking a popular virtual assistant a homework question to checking the weather forecast or filling your online shopping cart, most of us use AI-enabled products and apps every day, even without realising it.
Alongside the clear benefits of super-fast tools, are online feeds that can quickly fill with AI generated misinformation and inappropriate content, posing new risks to children and young people. From powerful influencers making a ‘celebrity’ living from brand partnerships that can shape their values and aspirations, to the darker risks posed by deepfakes, AI generated sexual images and ‘fake news’, it can be hard to spot the genuine content from that linked to extremist groups and online predators.
In the complex, fast changing digital world of social media, this introductory workshop aims to help those working with young people understand the basics of artificial intelligence and how it can be used both positively and negatively. It will explore ways to have positive conversations with children to encourage open communication, and develop digital literacy, strengthening the ability to question what they see and developing the critical thinking skills to identify potential risks and make safer choices.
