Research suggests that neurodivergence is highly hereditary, yet many parents only discover their own neuro-type after their child receives a diagnosis.
For these parents, navigating complex education and care systems isn’t just an administrative task—it is an executive functioning and sensory challenge that can lead to profound overwhelm.
This practical, neuroaffirming CPD training session is designed for professionals who work with families where parents or carers are neurodivergent, self-identified, or experiencing challenges that mirror neurodivergent patterns of overwhelm. Many parents navigate their own executive functioning difficulties, sensory needs, or past negative experiences with services while simultaneously advocating for their children.
Without the right approach, these parents can feel blamed, dismissed, or misunderstood, which increases stress and limits effective collaboration. This session focuses on creating interactions that feel validating rather than shaming. We explore how to reduce overwhelm, communicate clearly and compassionately, and support parents to engage with assessment pathways, EHCP processes, and school systems without feeling judged or at fault.
Attendees will gain practical tools to build trust, simplify communication, and strengthen relationships with neurodivergent families.
