With more than a third (36%) of 16–25-year-olds in Britain having self-harmed at some point in their lives *, there has never been a more crucial time to be at the forefront of youth mental health.

KIP Education’s Understanding & Supporting Young People with Self-Harm training is a practical course designed to equip participants with the tools to reshape these statistics and support at-risk young people.

This unique interactive webinar covers the latest theory, research and evidence-based practice guidelines on the detection, prevention, and management of self-injury & self-harming behaviours in young people.

Learn how to make a difference to at-risk young people by building on your core skills, improving your ability to talk about this sensitive topic with young people, assess if they’re ready to make a change, and decide on an appropriate treatment plan.

  • An understanding of why young people self-harm and key steps to help young people reduce their harming
  • Alternative coping strategies for individuals who self-harm
  • An understanding of physical and emotional indicators of self-harm.
  • Exploration and understanding of invitations a person at risk of self-harm may give
  • Learn clear and practical information on how to explore self-harm and respond appropriately
  • Show how to lead constructive self-talk
  • Where to refer young people to specialist support and an introduction to the resources that are available
